Not sure. But it is a mom & pop business They very well may be on Holiday.

Been coming here 10 years. This place is so good, haven't ordered anything we did not like, but our go to is sashimi and tuna poki bowls. I get 1.5 servings! Place is so cozy and the family that runs it is super nice!

We have been going to this restaurants for over 20 years. Gary and his wife, Yuka are very hard-working people, which has made this little, once known secret, a very popular place to visit- for a Japanese soul food. Gary makes a very special dish fore, I just can't get enough of.The restaurant is very unique and it does not seat many, is always crowded but the food is delicious and there is no such thing as a long wait.I would highly recommend this unique Japanese soul food restaurant to locals and tourists a like.Thank you both so much, Mark, Brandon & Daniel!

Daichan has been one of my absolute favorites for the past 2 years and I keep coming back. I usually order something fish related (tuna poke soba or a poke bowl) and I'm always please with the fish quality, the sauce distribution, the sushi rice - it's always delicious! Of course during covid it's been on and off in-dining, I always do takeout now. The ladies or workers behind the counter are always so pleasant and welcoming, and are very punctual with orders. Love this place and I'm happy to see it surviving these crazy times!

Small Japanese restaurant. Authentic food. Poki bowls are probably the best bet.

Family run business which makes you feel at home. Food is amazing and authentic Japanese fare. Tastes just like my grandma's cooking! Service is great. It can get packed so go a little early if you're aiming for lunch.

Food was excellent!! Service was a little slow, but not enough to get mad about. The staff was friendly, and like I said the food is excellent! The Toro Poke bowl was ridiculously good!! Great atmosphere and they have been there since 1996, so that should tell you something.

I had the best meal here with my husband. We ordered the tempura, appetizer tofu, edamame, two mixed poke with special rice (I think it was $3 extra for special rice- totally worth it! I daydream dream about that delicious umami rice.) and some hot green teas. The service was excellent and the ambiance was very fun and vibrant. I wish I still lived in LA so I could come here more often but I will always come back to eat here when I'm nearby.

The people are very nice and fast and every time I have been there the food has been excellent. Every time I'm always full and at peace feels like heaven. Love the music they play. Everyone must go here the only Japanese restaurant of all of Los Angeles that's completely different and unique.PS. The watermelon is my favorite thing to get ! :)

Hands down local favorite on the East end of the Valley. Closest thing to Japanese Tokyo Cafe eats! Have been going here for years and find myself back within days of returning from Japan. Hospitality never fails even though the crowds continue to grow as time goes on. The quality of food continues to be superb each and every time I visit.

Just came back from Hawaii. I must admit Daichan has the best Hawaii Japanese American foods than hawaii. So fresh and they make their original sauces. The best #poki in LA. When I first discovered this place over 18 years ago, I was so so excited. I am originally from Tokyo - and no restaurant cooked Japanese "soul" foods like they did. They make their own sauce - and they care about water and ingredient qualities. Highly recommended to everyone who miss Japanese Okaasan cooking. #hawaiianJapanese #japaneseSoulFood

If you want authentic Japanese food, this is the place. I was very impressed by the quality and the attention to detail. We started with the spinach and sesame seed appetizer. Then we had the mixed tempura, which was cooked perfectly. We really liked the nori wrapped tofu appetizer. For the main course, we both went for the Daimyo Chirashi. I would have preferred it served in a bowl rather than a plate, but it was really delicious. I'm picky about sushi rice and this place has it perfect. I think I will start frequenting this restaurant.

One of the better Japanese food in LA. The sashimi cuts are huge and very fresh. We love the purple potato tempura and poki bowl! Would love to come again if we were to visit LA. Highly recommended!

Daichan is a gem in every way. The food is fantastic from sushi to rice and noodle dishes. Awesome sake list. So affordable for the quality. But definitely what makes it so special is the vibe and the people - the service is so friendly and warm, just like dining in Japan. And the ambience/decor inside is so lovely. Definitely is our favorite all-around spot of the many Japanese restaurants in studio city.

Although this restaurant is unique in the Decour and very quaint the food needs a lot of help. The sushi was quite sub par and a little on the fishy side. My friend got a soba noodle dish and it was tasteless. I know they get quite crowded often but I don’t see why won’t be going back anytime soon sorry.

this place is by far one of the best hidden gems in Los Angeles county. Any person who says that he likes Japanese food must come here. I am pretty sure that they are the first people to bring poki to Los Angeles. The ambiance in the place is in, The service is outstanding. Pricing is as fair as it could be. I am very happy that I found out about this place because I bring all of my guests from out of town when they come to visit. I would say this would be the ideal place for a date as well. parking may be a little bit of b*** because you have to pay for valet but it is not overpriced at all. This place is worth so much more than sugar fish down the road.

Amazing Japanese food, owners and chef are from Kyoto and make food just as good as what we had there! Chicken katsu Curry is so good I almost hate sharing it! Drinks are a fair price. Atmosphere is amazing with photos and sculptures all around the restaurant. Feels like being in Japan (seriously)!!

One of my absolutely favorite restaurants.Been coming here 20 years and never tire of it.It is very authentic. Owned by Japanese couple who named the place after their son. The food is fresh and cooked to order. The menu is quite larfe and the food is delicious. You will find items here that yiu do not normally fi d in other Japanes restsurants. My personal fave is KawChi Chicken. Prices are so fair. Dishes range from $10 - $15. The place is really cute with lots of Japanese decor. The service is great. They are so friendly
